Gathering Gloom

As the days speed by fewer and fewer commentators and citizens seem content with the two Brian’s latest effort at what-ever-it-is-they-do.

The latest screed from the perspicacious Ambrose Evans-Pritchard points clearly to the horns of the dilemma that has yet to be grasped.

As a Green I am content with the role we are playing and there is no clear alternative being proposed by the Opposition and an election, given the awful experiences of the late ’70’s and early ’80’s, would likely be inconclusive and consequently the worst of all possible situations.

However, the whole tableau is increasingly looking to me as a re-arrangement of the deckchairs on the Titanic. The ‘Climate Catastrophe’ news is worsening on a daily basis at an accelerating rate and everyone is looking at their bank account instead of at their garden…

Constantin Gurdgiev has some pertinent comment also, over here.

I recently bumped into a former boss of mine. We exchanged a few pleasantries and comments on the grim news. He concluded by saying it was time to “batten down the hatches”. I blurted out a response to the effect that it was “time to get into the lifeboats”. At the time it was a quip but increasingly it feels correct.

The good news is that the earth will continue to spin or as the unscientific would have it – ‘the sun will come up’ tomorrow.

Cheers.
