Erin Go Broke

Our domestic tragi-comedy has come to the attention of Mr. Krugman and the review is not a happy one.

It has all the hallmarks of a classic piece of the laureate’s writing – clarity, succintness, cultural breadth and fine phrase making.

I won’t quote any of it – you should just read it.

It really is a shame that our ‘leaders’ have put us into a situation where all they can do for us is to patch up a leaky ship of state and wait for rescue.

This is not what Irish independence was meant to be about or to look like.
